As a members’ club, the Oriental has its own dress code, which on weekends is ‘smart casual’ as a minimum. This is defined by the committee as:
“Tailored and buttoned long or short-sleeved open-neck shirts and tailored trousers including chinos. Long or short-sleeved pullovers are acceptable provided they are worn over a collared shirt. Roll-neck sweaters are also acceptable. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
“Certain casual wear is not appropriate to be worn in the Club at any time including: jeans and any denim type material, t-shirts, shorts and leggings, trainings shoes, flip flops and similar footwear.”
However, as the groom, groomsmen, and fathers of the groom & bride will be wearing full morning dress with top hats and tails, gentlemen may wish to wear a suit and tie. Although anyone wishing to join us in morning dress is very welcome to do so!
Ladies are advised that the Club expects a similar level of formality for female guests, so hemlines should be no higher than a couple of inches above the knee, and necklines not too revealing. Trousers are perfectly acceptable and hats are encouraged (though not expected)!
